Junior Infants February Update
February has been a very busy and exciting month in Junior Infants!
We have been busy bees continuing our phonics learning and exploring the life cycle of a frog. The children loved learning about how frogs grow and had great fun creating their very own frogs sitting proudly on lily pads.
The Vets opened this month in Aistear, and many teddy animals received the very best care! The children showed wonderful imagination, teamwork, and kindness throughout their play.
In Gaeilge, we have been learning all about our Éadaí. Each morning, when we dress Teddy for the day, the children can now impressively name his clothes as Gaeilge!
The children are also thoroughly enjoying their weekly visits to the Autism class. They return with big smiles, full of stories about the fun they’ve been having, including Irish dancing with Andrew from 6th class!
We had lots of giggles making our very own pancake faces to celebrate Pancake Tuesday. We also spent time learning about Lent, and it was lovely to hear how some children have bravely decided to give up sweets, while others are making a special effort to be kind friends during this time.
To mark Internet Safety Day, we read stories and had discussions about how to stay safe while using screens. A special well done to Abigail, who won our colouring competition for her fantastic internet safety poster! We were also delighted to welcome Mr. O’Connor, who spoke to us about how he helps keep our school safe. The children had so many questions, and there are now many Junior Infants keeping a careful eye on Robertstown NS to help him out!
We also spread lots of love in Junior Infants this month, creating beautiful Valentine’s Day art using fabrics and showing kindness and friendship to everyone in our classroom.
Finally, we enjoyed a very well-deserved midterm break after all the hard work so far in 2026. Well done, Junior Infants!
