Junior Infants June Update
29th Jun 2026
What an incredible final month we’ve had in Junior Infants! It has been packed with fun, learning and lots of special memories to finish off a fantastic year together.
We had a brilliant time at Sports Day, where the children gave every event their best effort! They took part in egg and spoon races, sack races, relay races and, of course, the very competitive tug of war! A huge thank you to all of our wonderful supporters who came along to cheer us on, and an extra special thank you to those who bravely jumped in to help with the tug of war!
During Active Week, we kept moving with Cosmic Yoga, tried our hand at archery and had great fun working together with the parachute. We also enjoyed lots of time outdoors playing in the new playground and making the most of the lovely June weather.
In the classroom, we continued to build our literacy skills by practising our sentence writing and enjoying some exciting games, including fishing for tricky words and digraphs. The children have made fantastic progress this year, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence continue to grow.
We also became scientists and engineers by designing boats out of tinfoil to see how many teddy bears they could hold before sinking! The children loved predicting, testing and improving their designs.

As part of our SESE, we went on a search for our bug hotel to see what little creatures had made it their home, and how they help us.
The children created beautiful butterfly artwork and made some very special Father’s Day pieces, which they were so excited to bring home.

We also had a lovely Teddy Bear Picnic, where everyone brought along their favourite teddy to enjoy a special picnic together.
To celebrate the end of an amazing year, we enjoyed plenty of fun together, including musical chairs and, of course, a very exciting visit from the ice cream truck, which was a highlight of a fantastic month!
Thank you to all of our wonderful families for your kindness, support and encouragement throughout the year. It has been an absolute privilege to teach such a special group of children, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything they have achieved.
Wishing everyone a fantastic summer filled with fun, adventure and lots of happy memories!
