Junior Infants May Update
What a busy and exciting month we have had in Junior Infants!
In Art, we explored life on the farm and created fantastic farm animals including sheep, cows, pigs and chickens. The children had great fun using a variety of materials such as feathers, straw and cotton wool to bring their creations to life.
We were also excited to open our Hairdressers Role Play Area this month. The children thoroughly enjoyed pretending to be hairdressers and customers, developing their language, social and imaginative play skills through a range of fun activities. We were lucky to enjoy some lovely sunny weather throughout May too, and the children made the most of every opportunity to learn and play outdoors with their friends!
One of the highlights of the month was our very first school tour to Clonfert Farm. The children had an amazing day enjoying activities such as crazy golf, bouncing on bouncy castles, zip lining and exploring all that the farm had to offer. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces throughout the day!
Throughout May, we also learned all about Romania and Pakistan in preparation for our Culture Day celebrations. We explored Romanian castles and animals, creating bear and wolf masks, while learning about Pakistan through designing our own henna patterns and making Markhor goats.
Our Culture Day was a huge success! Visitors were welcomed with flags and boarding passes as they "travelled" to Romania and Pakistan. The children were fantastic ambassadors, proudly sharing the knowledge they had gained about both countries. Thank you to everyone who visited our classroom and celebrated with us.
A very special thank you to Halima's mam, Saira, and Jack's dad, Pavel, who generously gave their time to visit our class and teach us about Pakistan and Romania. Their presentations, stories and artefacts made our learning even more meaningful and memorable.
We finished off the month by learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. The children enjoyed exploring each stage of the life cycle and created beautiful butterfly artwork to celebrate their learning.
Well done to all the children for their enthusiasm, creativity and hard work throughout another wonderful month in Junior Infants!
