Second & Third Class April Update
April has been another busy and exciting month in our classroom, with lots of learning, creativity, and preparation taking place across all subjects.
In Maths, the children have been focusing on time. They have been practising reading analogue and digital clocks, solving time problems, and learning about durations, timetables, and daily routines. The children are becoming much more confident telling the time and applying these skills to real-life situations.
In English, our writing focus has been narrative story writing. The children have been exploring the key features of a good story, including characters, settings, problems, and resolutions. They used their imaginations to plan and write their own stories, adding descriptive language and exciting details to engage their readers.
In Irish, we have been learning about An Teilifís, building vocabulary related to television programmes and discussing favourite shows through games, conversations, and written activities. The children have really enjoyed using their new phrases during Irish lessons.
Art lessons this month focused on contrasting colours. The children experimented with warm and cool tones and explored how contrasting colours can make artwork stand out. Their finished pieces were bright, bold, and full of creativity.
In Science, we planted lettuce seeds and have been learning about what plants need in order to grow. The children have loved taking responsibility for caring for the plants and are excitedly observing the changes each week.
Meanwhile, our 2nd Class pupils are busily preparing for their upcoming Communion. They have been working hard and looking forward to this very special occasion.
Overall, April has been filled with creativity, teamwork, and enthusiastic learning, and we are very proud of all the children’s hard work and effort.
